Little Fern is a Waldorf pocket doll. I am kind of in love with the simplicity of these little babies. Their tiny, cuddly bodies are just so adorable. And they just smile at you in the palm of your hand. What could be sweeter? Anyhow, after making Sweatpea for the giveaway, I had the idea to use some beautiful vintage fabric from my neighbor as the body. i wanted her to have a fiddlehead fern hat and a tiny body. Proportions are difficult to perfect -- or at least they are for me. Are the arms long enough? Too long? Does the body make her head look too big? To get a realistic looking doll, you have to spend a lot of time playing with proportions. I have made and re-made and re-made legs and arms to get them all to look just right. But I didn't want this baby to look realistic, so I tried to make her proportions different (slightly bigger head and smaller body), and I'm really pleased with the results. She looks just perfect to me - and so cute! Her stuffing, hair and hat are made of 100% pure, clean wool. Her lovely orange locks are a little hard to manage, but she likes them that way. She has haunting blue eyes. I based them on those of my daughter. Her eyes have several colors of blue in them -- the same as Fern. Fern is about 6 inches tall, more or less. She will be listed on my Etsy site soon for $30. Thanks for looking!
