This is the place where wool whispers stories and secrets of hope and encouragement... a bridge from sorrow to hope. Elizabeth created the Mended Heart Doll series when a friend asked for a special doll to commemorate the loss of a son. This tribute led into a series of needle-felted dolls, each with her own story to tell. Each doll comes with her story on a high quality postcard.
The Original Mended Heart Doll
This mother knows sorrow. She understands a mother’s love — how when a child is born, your heart leaves your body and lives outside yourself. And she knows that when that heart breaks, it’s the most painful thing in the world.
But she is strong. And she knows that it is up to her to mend that heart. To knit it back together.
She knows her heart will never look or feel the same, but she knows that, over time, it can heal. But, for now, it is time for her to hold that heart, take care of it, and whisper words of love when she has the strength.
She wears the colors of mourning, but she has a red sash around her waist, knowing that color will return to her life. She will feel joy and happiness again. And so she sits and works on her heart. And God holds her and works on her soul.
